One time I was driving my son Tom and his friend Joey off on some adventure or another, and there was a big turtle trying to cross a busy street in our old neighborhood in Natick, MA. There are many lakes in the area, and it seemed like the turtle simply wandered out of one to visit another. We stopped the car in a safe spot, and, after traffic cleared, I helped the turtle to the other side of the road and set him down near the edge of a pond. Then about 10 years later, someone asked for a turtle song at a show, and this song just sort of popped out of my head!
